ELDIE DAVID, a true Butuanon by
heart, was born during what the Philippines called the “First Quarter Storm” on
January 5, 1969 in the City of Cebu. He was the 3rd child in a family of 5 children (3
boys and 2 girls).
His
father, Ildefonso Russell David, an industrious businessman from Pampanga had
set foot in the Butuan City by way of the marriage of his father to a
true-blooded Butuanon. His mother, Remedios Madrona Nollora came from a big
family from a small town called Liloan in the province of Southern Leyte. Both
his parents were educated and came from distinguished families in their
respective places. At an early age of six, he entered first grade in Butuan
City after he was brought by his parents from Cebu City. From thereon, he
studied in the Butuan until he finished his collegiate course in 1990 earning a
degree in Bachelor of Art major in Political Science. He has always shown his
keen for leadership that by his senior year he became the President of the
Student Council of Urios College (now known as Fr. Saturnino Urios University)
where he graduated.
After
graduation, he ventured into several jobs from being a waiter, a collector, a
news reporter, a teacher and many others. It was in 1997 that he got his big
break as a career professional when he got hired as Branch Supervisor of Smart
Communications, Inc. when the company opened its branch in Butuan City. Showing
dedication and commitment to his work, he found himself being promoted after
only 3 years in the company and became the Cluster Head for North Mindanao for
Wireless Center Operations. Not long after that, he was promoted as the
Regional Manager for Wireless Center Operations in Mindanao handling 21
branches of the company in the island. Through his promotion, this paved the
way for him to leave Butuan in 2003 and moved to Davao City.
After
working for ten years, he decided to leave the company to venture into
business. He ventured into agri-business by becoming a wholesaler of fruit and
vegetable products. However, things didn’t turn out well for him in business.
After much assessment, he went back to the corporate world and started to build
his career with an upstart company in Manila. In 2011, his desire to go
back to his roots in Butuan was realized through the prodding of his
pilitician-friend Atty. Law Fortun who was then the Vice Mayor of the City. He
worked for his friend from thereon where he found peace in being back to his
native place.
In
October of the same year, he met Glazel Pett Espejon, a young lass from nearby
Gingoog City which caught his heart. Although younger by 19 years, this did not
hinder him from pursuing her and eventually they ended up together. The
beautiful Espejon, whom he considers a “perfectly molded” woman, was the
fulfillment of his dream. Up to the present, they have been together happily
and is starting to craft a family of their own.
